Shoplifter charged

Dear Resident,

A man has been charged and released on bail following a series of shoplifting offences at a shop on Regent's Park Road. He is due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court in November and has been given bail conditions prohibiting him from entering Regent's Park Road.

The man was lawfully detained by shop staff on Sunday evening after being recognised in connection with previous shoplifting offences. On this occasion, despite being subjected to threats of violence, the staff acted courageously to prevent him from leaving before police arrived. Officers subsequently arrested the man and progressed the investigation, resulting in charges being authorised.

We would like to thank the shop staff for their bravery and assistance in helping to tackle repeat offending within the community.
